Enquire nowIn 1963, the anniversary of her accession to the Throne and also the one hundred and twenty-third anniversary of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi | Treaty of Waitangi, Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Aotearoa New Zealand.
Whilst in Pōneke Wellington, Her Majesty presented a silver chalice and paten to St. Paul's Cathedral – these had been used by her grandparents during their tour in 1901.
The photograph itself was taken by Te Kaunihera o Pōneke | Wellington City Council’s Engineering Department which occasionally was requested to photograph Council functions.
