Captured from above in 1962, this stunning aerial photography print offers a nostalgic window into the golden age of the Auckland eastern beaches. The scene depicts Kohimarama Beach during a quintessential New Zealand summer, where the pristine sand and sparkling waters of the Waitemata Harbour invited locals for a day of swimming and sailing. Fringed by iconic pōhutukawa trees and lush foliage, the coastline along Tamaki Drive retains a timeless charm, showcasing the perfect balance between the natural beauty of the bay and the budding suburban life of the 60s. This image is a quintessential example of the work produced by Whites Aviation, the legendary studio founded by Leo White that pioneered aerial perspectives of New Zealand’s changing landscapes.
